Outros Cotidianos
Artists: Ildeu Borges and Felipe Salsano
Venue: Cultural Space of the Superior Court of Justice – STJ
In the exhibition other daily lives, the artists Felipe Salsano and Ildeu Borges meet to tell stories through the representation of daily lives of people from Brasília and from different parts of the world.
The exhibition, curated by Andrea Cabral, will be open to the public from August 1 to 22, 2018 at Espaço Cultural do Superior Tribunal de Justiça-STJ.
“Other daily life” is an offshoot of the “daily life” exhibition that was on display for almost three months at the Correios Museum (from November 26, 2017 to February 18, 2018) and exhibited more than ninety paintings by both artists.
Twenty new paintings were produced for this exhibition.
The artists had total freedom to create, as long as they didn’t shy away from the theme. When the works were ready, it was noticed that, unconsciously, the point of view of each one was transformed by the look of the other.
About the artists:
Felipe Salsano and Ildeu Borges are figurative painters, born in Brasília and work with classic and traditional drawing and painting techniques.
Felipe was born in 1987 and at the age of nineteen he left Brasilia to study art in Italy, graduating with honors from one of the most prestigious schools in the world: the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. He is currently attending the Florence Academy of Russian Art in the same city and is a professor of painting. He held individual and group exhibitions in Brasilia, Italy and the United States. The only child of a blind mother and a psychologist, his work is inspired by the way he described the world to her. He travels through different countries and paints pictures with the intention of translating to himself and to the public the essence of people souls and the landscapes where they live. Facial expressions, clothes, objects and environments show the character and history of each human being portrayed by him.
Ildeu Borges was born in 1971, is an engineer, executive and self-taught in the arts. He held several exhibitions in Brasília and received honorable mention in some of them. It is mainly inspired by landscapes and characters from the hometown of Brasília. In his paintings there is an excellent balance between architecture and people. Some pictures are dynamic, showing the characters in continuous movement, immersed in their chores. The faces are usually painted anonymously.
